A violation of division (A) of this section is a misdemeanor of the first degree.

A further form of intimidation may be thought of as 'cultural intimidation'. For instance, a person could be charged with an attempt to Bribe a Witness, and then Intimidating a Witness or Victim, once the witness or victim refused the offer of money and was then threatened with physical harm. It is possible that a person could be charged with more than one of these crimes for the same act.This occurs where family or friends of the victim or witness try to dissuade him or her from assisting in an investigation or an inquiry.There may be a variety of reasons for this including bringing shame on the victim's family.
